The Tampa-based media outlet, Biz Journals, has highlighted Pasco County’s (Florida) pioneering connected city, in which Metro Development Group has created a haven of innovation and technology that includes solar-powered streetlights, 21st century health and wellness initiatives and includes no less than two impressive Crystal Lagoons® water amenities. The large-scale project is a first for the United States.
The development has two Metro Places communities —Epperson and Mirada — which each have its own multi-acre Crystal Lagoons amenities, ULTRAFi high-speed internet technology and 300 Metro iLights, which are solar powered and eco-friendly. It is the first Smart Gigabit Community built from the ground up.
Mirada, built for residents 55+, celebrated its grand opening in July 2019 and will feature the Tampa Bay area’s third and largest pure turquoise lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons technology.
At nearly 15 acres, the water amenity planned for Mirada will be the second-largest in the United States. Similar to the 7.5-acre lagoon at Epperson, Mirada’s lagoon will feature a white sand beach conjuring up the Caribbean, a swim-up bar, and kayak and paddleboard rentals.
Epperson, located in Wesley Chapel, 40 minutes outside of Tampa, Florida, hosts important health wellness and medical technology, and was previously featured by Tampa Bay Times and Fox News TV station for its avant-garde features, including the country’s fastest internet speeds. The news program even described the development as an “affordable Silicon Valley”.
The lagoon, which anchors the residential development, brings beach life to resident’s doorsteps, and due to high demand, opened as a Public Access Lagoon™, allowing the general public to enjoy the lagoon activities via ticketed entry.
